Them! Process

Process from lines to colors with closeups.
The characters were drawn digitally in Photoshop while the wavy blocks were done in pencil and scanned.










For the final image, I went back and turned the blocks line art to hard light and lightened it. Then I selected all the corners and edges and inverted them to white; while adding light details to some of the edges in a separate layer.
